If you have a child in grades 1 through 6, you might want to check out the Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program. Here's how it works: your child must read eight books and write down the title and the author as well as their favorite part of each book on a special journal. You can either print out the journal here or pick one up at the counter of your local Barnes and Noble. Then your child needs to bring the completed form back to the store before September 2nd, and they will receive a coupon for a free book! They will be able to choose from a list of great paperback titles.
Last week, my daughter took in her completed form to our local store and picked out an American Girl book -- THE SILENT STRANGER, A KAYA MYSTERY. There were lots of terrific books for any age level. This year, she wrote down (all by herself) the eight books and her favorite part in each one. She just loves this program!
Make sure you take advantage of this great opportunity -- your kids will be encouraged to read and they will love getting to pick out a book (we already know it's in their genes to love free books.) What could be better?

That sounds like a great program. I'll have to remember it for next year.
I totally forgot about B&N's program. Looks like my kids still have time to take advantage of it. My dd LOVES the American Girl books, too! Thanks for the reminder about this great program.
Thanks for participating in the short story discussion!! I really liked your thoughts...
By the way, I'm publishing your interview tomorrow on my new site! I'll be sure to send a link your way -- thanks again!
