Appurtenance is quite a mouthful to say if you mean accessory! Thanks for participating.
I love that you are reading Betsy and Tacy. I need to get into them again!!
I like saying lugubrious. It even sounds a little mournful.
Lugubriously is the only word I had heard of, but couldn't remember the definition. I'm more likely to remember tony. Thanks for sharing a great list.
A lot of new words to me. What is suprising is that is a children's book. I don't remember those words and I read the books as a child interesting.

I didn't know the word appurtenance (though I fell i should have...)
Here are my words
I like the way lugubrious is used in that sentence. I can just see a little drama queen acting up.
Appurtenance is an unusual word!
Wondrous Words Wednesdays
Tony I think is one I can manage to bring up in a conversation...thanks for the new words!
Those are quite the words to have in a children's book aren't they? I love the way both words sound though.
I love saying puny and tony and thinking of Anna!
I think that kids love learning big words. I know that is part of the appeal of the Fancy Nancy books. I think it's even more fun if you learn something your parents don't know!
