Book Club Exchange - Sandra from You Have to Half It

I'd like to welcome Sandra from You Have to Half It to Book Club Exchange, a regular feature on Booking Mama which highlights anything and everything book club-related! I love how she not only tells us about her club but she also talks about the value of an author telephone chat. My group has enjoyed our author chats a great deal, and we always think it enhances our appreciation of the book.

La’ Chic Book Club

I was delighted when asked to guest post for Julie/Booking Mama because I saw it as a great opportunity to share the wonderful experience that is my book club.

First, I found a group of wonderful women who share my love for reading. Shortly after our first meet and greet, we came up with the name La’ Chic as we found that we are all modern Latinas. The group has been together for about 7 months and is currently made up of 9 members. We gather once a month and take turns hosting in our homes.

In the last 2 months we have had the pleasure of reading 2 books from a wonderful author named Mary Castillo. We read ‘Hot Tamara’ and the sequel ‘In Between Men’. Everyone enjoyed the books for one reason or another. However, the highlight was being able to talk with Mary Castillo via telephone at our last meeting. Mary was very gracious in answering all of our questions as well taking everyone’s comments. We were able to get better acquainted with the characters and how they came to life. It was an experience we were able to share not only as a book club but also as friends.

I am very proud of our group and look forward to growing in the very near future.
