I Told You I Loved TKAM

As many of you know, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD by Harper Lee is my all-time favorite book. (You can read my thoughts about this novel here.) Maybe it's because I got caught up in the entire 50th anniversary celebration last month, but I found a little something that I had to have:

A Boo Radley Charm Bracelet!!!!

Isn't it just adorable and such a fitting tribute to Boo? The charms represent every item that Boo left in the knothole for Jem and Scout to find. My bracelet also has a little round silver charm that says "Hey Boo" as well as a 1950s Japanese luminescent bead which represents Boo's spirit! I just love it!!!

And because there was a slight delay in receiving the bracelet, the designer included so many goodies that I couldn't believe it! I received some photos of Boo's grave and the characters in the movie, along with a print out of what each charm symbolizes. As an added bonus, I also received an adorable Scout ham necklace (you'll know the symbolism if you've read TKAM) -- it just cracks me up!

If you are a fan of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, then you are definitely going to want to check out Boo Lady's site on Etsy. Boo Lady is awesome and she even says that "part of being like Boo is doing surprises like Boo would do." I can vouch for how wonderful her surprises are!

Boo Lady is currently working on many new TKAM items including a ham charm bracelet. And, she has recently lowered the price on her ham necklace. You can mark her shop as a "favorite" and she'll email you when her new items are available!

  3. Oh that's fun! Would you believe I still haven't read the book? I have the 50th anniversary copy so really need to get going on that.

Love the "treasures" you pictured here and will definitely check out that site!

  4. Love this! Like Sheila, I still haven't read this classic (CAN'T believe that, but alas...). I just read Mockingbird by Katheryn Erskine--about 10 year old w/Asperger's, but with MANY references to TKAM. Wish I had read it first, so that I really understood the parallels.

  5. When I was a child, TKAM was one of my favorite novels. I must have read and re-read it a bunch of times and every time I read it, the story became all the more mature, complex and fascinating. I am a fan of the new cover art, too. :)

Again, just wanted to give you a quick thanks for posting on the Mulholland Books website. It's been great having you participating in the discussion there and am looking forward to you reading our guest posts and engaging in the discussion.

  8. Those are awesome! I love TKAM but I would have never imagined that someone was creative enough to base jewelry off it. =)
