Waiting on Wednesday

This is my first time to participate in “Waiting On” Wednesday!

"Waiting on Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication “can't-wait-to-read” selection is:

THE NEXT BEST THING by Jennifer Weiner which will be available on July 3rd!

Summary: At twenty-three, Ruth Saunders headed west with her seventy-year-old grandma in tow, hoping to be hired as a television writer. Four years later, she’s hit the jackpot when she gets The Call: the sitcom she wrote, The Next Best Thing, has gotten the green light, and Ruthie’s going to be the show-runner. But her dreams of Hollywood happiness are threatened by demanding actors, number-crunching executives, an unrequited crush on a boss, and her grandmother’s impending nuptials.

Set against the fascinating backdrop of Los Angeles show business culture, with an insider’s ear and eye for writer’s rooms, bad behavior backstage and set politics, Jennifer Weiner’s new novel is a rollicking ride on the Hollywood rollercoaster and a heartfelt story about what it’s like for a young woman to love, and lose, in the land where dreams come true. -- Atria

I am a huge fan of Ms. Weiner's so I thought I'd share some more of her exciting news:

  • THEN CAME YOU is coming out in paperback on May 8th
  • That same day, SWIM, an original ebook short storywill be available for free download wherever ebooks are sold. SWIM is originally from Jen's short story collection The Guy Not Taken, and it is the inspiration for her forthcoming novel, THE NEXT BEST THING.
  • Ms. Weiner's Book Tour Schedule

Ooh this sounds good - like a behind the scenes look at the less glamorous parts of show biz.
