Kid Konnection: The Nuts: Sing and Dance in Your Polka-Dot Pants

Every Saturday, I host a feature called Kid Konnection -- a regular weekend feature about anything related to children's books. This week I'm going to share with you a fun picture book that just might make your child want to sing and dance!

THE NUTS: SING AND DANCE IN YOUR POLKA-DOT PANTS by Eric Litwin and illustrated by Scott Magoon is an adorable book that definitely made me smile. It's the second book in the Nuts series (which is new to me), and I can see the appeal of this "nutty"family.

In SING AND DANCE IN YOUR POLKA-DOT PANTS, Hazel Nut (cracks me up everytime!) loves to sing and dance, so one rainy day, she wrote a song. She desperately wanted her family to sing and dance with her but they were just too busy. She finally calls Grandma Nut, who is very cool, and she decides to dance with Hazel! It was so much fun that everyone joined in.

I thought SING AND DANCE IN YOUR POLKA-DOT PANTS was adorable... and very silly. I loved all of the "nutty" puns and the illustrations were terrific. The book is actually great for read-aloud with it's call-and-response rhymes (that phrase is new to me too but describes it perfectly!), and the there are plenty of laugh out loud parts. By the end of the story, both the adult and the child will be chanting this adorable song!

Eric Litwin is also famous for his Pete the Cat picture books which have sold over 1.5 million copies, and he's a popular singer, songwriter, and speaker for interactive literary and music. SING AND DANCE IN YOUR POLKA-DOT PANTS is great fun for little ones... and the adults in their lives!
