Kid Konnection: More National Geographic Kids Fun!

Every Saturday, I host a feature called Kid Konnection -- a regular weekend feature about anything related to children's books. This week I'm going to share with you two educational books that are also a lot of fun!

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS ULTIMATE EXPLORER GUIDE: EXPLORE, DISCOVER AND CREATE YOUR OWN ADVENTURES WITH REAL NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORERS by Nancy Honovich is a fantastic book for the little (and not-so-little) explorer in your life. Basically, this book takes kids on a variety of adventures... just like real life explorers.

The ULTIMATE EXPLORER GUIDE is 150 pages of adventure. I will never ceased to be amazed by the quality of these National Geographic Kids books. Needless to say, the photos are incredible. However, I also love how the book is set up. Each page has so much to discover. There are stories, hands on activities, and more! This is one of those books that are just perfect to keep kids entertained during the long summer months.

The ULTIMATE EXPLORER GUIDE is divided into Land, Sea and Sky sections. Within each section, there are many things to explore. For example in the Land chapter, there are pages devoted to animal migrations, figuring out fossils, and traditions around the world. In the Sea section, there are pages on shipwrecks, the Great Barrier Reef, and saving seabirds. And finally in the Sky section, there are pages on space exploration, stars, and the future of flight.

It's probably obvious that this book has a little something for all types of explorers. I think the ULTIMATE EXPLORER GUIDE is a must-read for curious kids and ones who love the possibility of adventure. Highly recommended!

100 THINGS TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP is another fun book for the upcoming summer months. All too often I think we pressure kids to know what they want to be when they grow up, and they honestly don't even understand the possibilities out there for them. Well, 100 THINGS TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP just might help them start thinking about what interests them!

100 THINGS TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP is 250+ pages of career opportunities... and some are pretty darn interesting. This little book is compact and easy to read; and of course, the full color photographs are gorgeous. I like that you can pick this one up and just read a few pages or skim through it until you find something that interests you!

Each page spread (or two) features a different job or career. Many of these jobs are totally fun and also ones that don't normally come to mind when you are thinking about careers. For example, the very first job  listed is an ice cream flavor developer! (Now that's a job that I think I'd excel at!) Not only are the unique jobs described in detail, but there are some interviews with real-life people who do these jobs. There are also fun facts about the various jobs listed throughout the book as well as hands on projects!

I love 100 THINGS TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP and I think kids will too! It's a fun way to start thinking about your future and discovering your passion!
