Who doesn't love looking at tropical fish? I am constantly amazed that these beautiful creatures exist in nature, and that's one of the reasons that I was initially drawn to the children's book ALL FISH FACES: PHOTOS & FUN FACTS ABOUT TROPICAL REEF FISH by Tam Warner Minton.
ALL FISH FACES is a softcover book that has 70 pages of gorgeous full color photographs of all things related to tropical fish. It's the first book in the Ocean Friends series, and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for future installments. Her photography is nothing short of breath-taking, and parents and children alike will enjoy looking these fish.
I will admit that the color photographs were the first thing that I noticed about this book; however, I also appreciated the tidbits about the various types of fish. The author gives brief, but engaging, descriptions about certain fish; and the tone is friendly and fun. I can totally see elementary age kiddos reading this book out loud to their parents because the facts are so interesting.
The author wrote ALL FISH FACES with the intent of introducing children to our ocean and its creatures. Ms. Minton's hope is that children will see the beauty of the ocean and then work towards protecting it. Isn't that a great message? In addition, she is donating ten percent of profits to the Marine Megafauna Foundation.
I think ALL FISH FACES would make a great addition to home and school libraries.
Thanks to the publisher for providing a review copy of this book.

I love watching fish but don't want to take care of them. This sounds like a fabulous book.
Every time I go to an aquarium or something that has fish, I am always amazed at all the different varieties and colors of fish there are. It really is mind-boggling.
